A vow is a spiritual promise to abandon particular faults, which is made in conjunction with a traditional ritual ceremony. In the Pratimoksha Vow ceremony the vows of basic moral discipline are taken with the goal of attaining personal liberation from suffering permanently. In taking and keeping these vows we will develop a positive way of life and all our realizations of concentration and other spiritual paths will develop easily.

It is customary to bring an offering of some kind, such a flowers, incense, candles, or anything that you find beautiful and meaningful.
