Weekday Classes at the Dallas Temple

 

Come and enjoy drop-in meditation classes at our newly renovated 8500 square foot downtown Dallas City Temple! The Temple offers an ideal setting to learn about and improve your meditation practice in an inspiring and peaceful environment.

Drop-in classes are offered several times per week and oriented towards those that are new to meditation and Buddhism. Some classes have fees and some are by donation, however no one is ever turned away for lack of funds!

Tuesday Intro Meditation Class

WHAT TO EXPECT

Perfect for beginners, this class provides an introduction to meditation and advice for practicing meditation, mindfulness, and applying Buddhist teachings in daily life.

Class includes two guided meditations, a talk on Buddhism for everyday living, and time for Q&A. Although part of a monthly series, each class is stand alone. Drop in at any time.

This series will be taught from the book The New Meditation Handbook and meditations will be taken from the Living Meditation audio series, which offers 9 guided meditations for daily life. These resources can be found here at Tharpa Publications US. 

Teacher

Jaqueline McKethan began studying meditation and Buddhism in 2005 at Kadampa Meditation Center North Carolina, and continued her studies at Kadampa Meditation Center Texas when she moved to Dallas in 2008. She is currently enrolled in the Teacher Training Program and regularly teaches classes in Dallas. During the day, she is an Information Security Specialist, having previously been a professional musician.

Wednesday evening is our main weekday drop-in class with our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang  Menla.  This class is perfect for beginners! It provides an introduction to meditation and advice for practicing meditation, mindfulness, and applying Buddhist teachings in daily life.

Class includes two guided meditations, a talk on Buddhism for everyday living, and time for Q&A. Although part of a monthly series, each class is stand alone. Drop in at any time. Information on the monthly series can be found below. 


Class is followed by refreshments for those who wish to stay for more conversation.

Teacher

Gen Kelsang Menla has studied under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 20 years and was requested by him to become the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Texas in June 2017. Gen Menla was ordained as a Kadampa Buddhist monk in 2001 and has worked and taught within the New Kadampa Tradition for many years. He brings a warm heart and joyful attitude to sharing Buddha’s teachings and the practice of meditation.
