Welcome to our Denton Branch! We offer classes three days per week and once a month mini retreats or courses on Saturday. Our space is warm and cozy, we welcome to to visit us!
Some classes have fees and some are by donation, however no one is ever turned away for lack of funds. Everyone is welcome!
WHAT TO EXPECT
These classes are perfect for beginners! They provide an introduction to meditation and support for starting to practice meditation, mindfulness, and applying Buddhist teachings in daily life.
Sunday and Wednesday classes include two guided meditations, a talk on Buddhism for everyday living, and time for Q&A. Although part of a monthly series, each class is stand alone. You can drop in at any time. Information on the monthly series can be found below.
Class is followed by refreshments for those who wish to stay for more conversation.
Jenny Streit-Horn is the principal teacher at our Denton Branch Center and has been studying and practicing Buddhism for over 20 years. She has been a Kadampa Buddhist practitioner for 10 years and finds Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's books and teachings to be remarkably clear and practical. Jenny brings a warm and caring heart to teaching meditation and Buddhism and is studying on Teacher Training Program at KMC Texas.

Current Topic: New Meditatation Handbook
The New Meditation Handbook is a practical guide to meditation that teaches us how to make ourself and others happy by developing inner peace, and in this way making our lives more meaningful. Without inner peace there is no real happiness at all. Problems, suffering and unhappiness do not exist outside the mind; they are feelings and thus part of our mind. Therefore, it is only by controlling our mind that we can permanently stop our problems and make ourself and others truly happy. The twenty-one Buddhist meditation practices presented in this book are actual methods to control our mind and experience lasting inner peace. This extremely practical guide is an indispensable handbook for those seeking happiness and meaning in their lives.

Learn to relax body and mind, develop inner peace and mental clarity and maintain a kind and patient attitude towards others. These are great meditations for your lunchtime break!
