Held at the Lotus Ranch, this rural retreat center is located in the rolling hills in Wimberley, Texas, outside Austin. Accommodations and vegetarian meals are included. There are also many nice local bed and breakfasts in and near Wimberly.
Gen Kelsang Menla was ordained as a Kadampa Buddhist monk in 2001 and has taught Kadampa Buddhism since that time. Gen Menla has also completed temple renovation projects in Baltimore, Albuquerque and our own temple here in Dallas. He brings a warm heart and joyful attitude to sharing Buddha’s teachings and the practice of meditation.
Gen Kelsang Norden, a senior ordained teacher requested by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso to teach modern Buddhism at Kadampa Meditation Center in Houston. Ordained as a Buddhist nun in 1994, Gen Norden has been teaching Buddhism and meditation in the US and the UK for over 20 years.
Kelsang Dechok is a senior ordained teacher of Modern Buddhism. She was requested by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche to teach at Kadampa Meditation Center in Austin. She has studied and taught in both the US and the UK for many years.

About the Location
The Lotus Ranch is a beautiful 40 acre retreat facility located in Wimberley, Texas, approximately half-way between Austin and San Antonio. Lotus Ranch has over 2 miles of walking trails with 2 ponds and natural gardens provide the perfect space for peaceful walks and contemplation between meditation sessions.
Onsite housing is limited at Lotus Ranch. Please register early for rooms. In Wimberly there are many comfortable Bed and Breakfasts and hotels in the area, as well.
