Buddha's Enlightenment Day – OSG
April 15th is Buddha's Enlightenment Day, when we celebrate Buddha Shakyamuni demonstrating the attainment of enlightenment in 589 B.C.E. Even though he had already attained enlightenment many lives previously, out of great compassion he appeared in our world to demonstrate how we too can follow this path. At this time, in such a troubled world, the most meaningful thing we can do is to follow Buddha's example and use our precious human life to attain enlightenment to benefit all living beings.
This auspicious day is marked by special events in Kadampa Buddhist Centers around the world. At KMC Texas, we will come together to make special prayers of gratitude to Buddha and to our Spiritual Guide called Offering to the Spiritual Guide.

There is no need to register in advance for this event.
Although optional, it is customary to make an offering of fresh food or non-perishables as part of this traditional ceremony.
