A Celebration of Faith
Offering Mantras to our Spiritual Guide
Every day we can remember the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, our Root Guru and the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition. But on this auspicious day, the day of Venerable Geshe-la's birth, we also celebrate Buddha's first Turning of the Wheel of Dharma. With minds of rejoicing and gratitude, we make an offering of our faith by reciting the special prayer Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from His Faithful Disciples and by collecting our Guru’s name mantra in a one-day retreat.
There will be three sessions of retreat using the sadhana The Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land According to Highest Yoga Tantra and the special request prayer. In the evening, the retreat will conclude with Offering to the Spiritual Guide prayers.
This is considered an intermediate level retreat. The full benefits of this retreat are gained through a mind of faith. If you would like to learn more about developing faith in a Spiritual Guide, see the section on Relying Upon a Spiritual Guide in Joyful Path of Good Fortune or Great Treasury of Merit.
