Introduction to Foundation Program

Current Book: Joyful Path of Good Fortune

If you have a strong wish to follow the spiritual path that Buddhism presents, then this book-study program may be perfect for you. Join us at the regular Foundation Program (FP) class time to find out more about studying with us. We will have answers to any questions about joining FP.

In the Fall 2026 section of Foundation Program, we will be learning about the mind of definite emergence.

This phrase is not one you will come across outside of Buddhism. It is the meaning of renunciation. It signifies one of the most important decisions we can make - the decision to become free from all suffering by freeing ourselves from the causes and origins of suffering.

About our study text: Joyful Path of Good Fortune

This is a clear and comprehensive explanation of the entire path to enlightenment. We all have the potential for self-transformation, and a limitless capacity for the growth of good qualities, but to fulfill this potential we need to know what to do along every stage of our spiritual journey. With this book, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso offers us step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness. With extraordinary clarity, he presents all Buddha’s teachings in the order in which they are to be practiced, enriching his explanation with stories and illuminating analogies.

This is a perfect guidebook to the Buddhist path.
