Keith House - Skyspaces and Perception

Join us at the inspiring Keith House in Fort Worth for a unique event. To guide our experience, Kadampa Meditation Center Texas Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Wangpo will provide a teaching on how our perception shapes our reality and guide us in meditation.

This teaching offers powerful perspectives that help us rethink how we view the world—especially our environment and the people within it. We will explore how the mind has the capacity to shape our experience of reality and how recognizing this can unlock greater happiness and well-being. A guided meditation will support this learning by helping us deepen and integrate these insights through direct experience.

Following the presentation we will immerse ourselves in the mesmerizing experience of a James Turrell Skyspace. As the day passes from dusk to dark, enjoy a fascinating play between the twilight sky, visible through the open roof, and changing light on the Skyspace dome. Come to Good is an unforgettable way to end your day.

James Turrell's Come to Good

Come to Good, 2024, is James Turrell’s 99th Skyspace. Skyspaces are immersive works of art that embody concepts such as ancient celestial observatories, gothic cathedrals, and cutting-edge understanding of perception and cognition. At sunrise and sunset, the twilight sky—visible through a roof-top opening—plays with light on the ceiling. The experience changes with the seasons and the weather, making repeat visits especially rewarding.

Influenced by his Quaker upbringing and experiences as a pilot, Turrell began working with light as a medium in the 1960s. His goal was not to highlight other objects but to make light itself the subject. Come to Good was created for Fort Worth and is one of the few skyspaces where the roof opens.
