New to KMC Texas?
We look forward to meeting you!
Your first visit, made easy
• Just drop in — no registration, no commitment.
• Classes run about 60–75 minutes.
• Chairs are available; you never have to sit on the floor.
• Wear comfortable clothes. Bring nothing but yourself.
• There's a small fee or donation, and no one is ever turned away for lack of funds.
• Come as you are — everyone is welcome.
You don't need to be Buddhist to benefit from Buddha's teachings.
Regardless of your faith, you are welcome to come along and enjoy our classes and become part of our community.
If you've never attended a class before, it's best to attend a General Program class to get a taste of what's on offer. GP classes typically follow the structure of a teaching followed by meditation.
Remember, meditation is a skill learned through repetition. It's not unusual for people to try meditation for the first time and feel distracted and unfocused. That's all okay! If you decide now to stick with it and practice regularly you'll become a seasoned meditator in time.
At KMC Texas our goal is to help everyone achieve inner peace and happiness through the practice of meditation and the use of Buddhist teachings in daily life.

Everyone Welcome
“Without inner peace in the hearts of all living beings, there can be no outer peace.”
— Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
-
No, beginners and people with no background in Buddhism or meditation are welcome.
-
No, everyone is welcome regardless of religious background. Buddhist teachings are suitable for everyone.
If you are interested in becoming Buddhist, consider our study programs. -
Casual, comfortable, and modest clothing is recommended. Loose clothing helps if you choose to sit on a floor cushion.
-
We have meditation cushions and regular chairs, so you can choose whichever is comfortable. Some people will sit on the floor for a portion of the class, such as the meditation, and in a chair during the teaching. This is fine too!
-
Pre-registration makes your arrival easier. For Sundays and weekend events, it is a good idea but not required. We always have ample space in our weekday classes that you could drop in without worry.
-
No, please feel free to drop in whenever you like. Attending the entire series of classes is highly beneficial, as each class builds on the next. However, each class is taught in such a way that if you only attend one class, you will derive benefit from it.
KMC Texas is a welcoming community.
Meditation is for everybody!
We have classes around the metroplex and in other regions of Texas, so you can find your inner peace.

What class should I start with?
-
Drop-in classes are suitable for beginners as well as those with an established meditation practice. Each class includes a Buddhist teaching and guided meditation. Through these classes we can learn how to use Buddha’s advice in our own lives to solve all our daily problems and find the peace and happiness we seek.
-
Meditation prayers are offered at various times throughout the month to help us receive inspiring energy and prepare our minds for meditation.
-
A structured in-depth study program of a selection of Buddhist books to provide foundational understanding of Buddha’s teachings. Enrollment Required.
-
Special events (usually taking place over the weekend), provide an opportunity to contemplate and meditate more deeply on one aspect of Buddha’s teachings.
